The Clovis Center offers the advantages of a medium-sized community college campus in a friendly and comfortable setting.
HistoryAs northern Fresno County changed from agricultural land to tree-lined neighborhoods and commercial centers, the State Center Community College District recognized the need to offer an affordable, quality education to the residents of this area of rapid growth. The Clovis Center opened in 1992 on seven acres just east of the City of Fresno. The Clovis Center has provided students with a variety of support services to assist them in reaching educational goals. As the community of Clovis continues to grow, the needs of the community college students are changing. In order to meet the needs of the growing student population, a new campus with over 100 acres has opened in northeast Fresno County at Willow and International Avenues and will eventually lead to a campus capable of accommodating up to 10,000 students.
Comprehensive programs put students on track to meet goalsA majority of students now attend the Clovis Center to fulfill their general education requirements and to prepare for transfer to a four-year institution. Also, the new center provides additional occupational training programs that lead to certificates and Associate Degrees, reflecting the most current job skills and knowledge. Business, computer/information systems, and multimedia instruction are emphasized, along with comprehensive math, science, and engineering programs. Distance learning courses are incorporated into some programs to give students access to upper division classes and advanced coursework. Comprehensive guidance and counseling services help students stay on track to meet their educational goals, with financial aid available for qualified individuals.
