MCCC Library Continues to Offer Online Services

Apr 22, 2020

The Madera Community College Center Library continues to offer online services during the campus closure.  During the time the campus is closed, only online services will be available.

Late fees will not be charged during the time the campus is closed. Please return items when the library reopens. The date the library and campus will reopen is uncertain; we will update you as we find out more information.

You have access to the following services and information that will assist with your research and reference needs:

  • Free eTextbook access through VitalSource: Go to www.vitalsource.com - An account needs to be created with a school email. Then counter-intuitively, you don't search for the individual titles on the main sales website, you have to go to the "My Bookshelf" tab and choose "explore", as access to select items has already been added to your account. If you search for titles that are available in your bookshelf on the main sales page, you will be taken to a page to purchase them, and will not be notified they are available for free in "Explore". You can choose up to 7 items to add to your account until May 24, 2020. A detailed written guide can be found here and a video guide here.
  • Research Appointments via Zoom:  To schedule an in-depth research appointment, please book an appointment through confer zoom
  • Email Reference Services: We are happy to answer brief questions or simple research inquiries by email at mc.library@scccd.edu.  For more in-depth questions, please make an appointment for a phone or Zoom conversation.

Students, please enroll in our Canvas page for library information and activities that will guide you through the steps of doing research for an assignment or paper in a class; it can be from when you first choose your topic to when you cite your sources.  Each lesson and module will discuss a different step in the research process - feel free to view them in order or for your particular need: https://scccd.instructure.com/enroll/86RGN9

Lastly, the librarian will be hosting a drop-in Library Q&A Zoom session this month.  If you have library questions or would like to drop-in to see what the library has to offer, please attend the following session:
