Graduation & Commencement

Graduation and Commencement are two distinct terms:

GRADUATION is a term used to describe when a student has completed his/her degree or certificate. The student must apply for graduation via WebAdvisor. Upon completion of all required coursework, the student’s degree/certificate will post to his/her academic record (posted to your District transcript).

COMMENCEMENT is the annual ceremony in which eligible graduates “walk.” Madera Community College Center holds only one commencement ceremony, which is held the last Friday of the Spring semester. Participation in the Commencement Ceremony does not mean you have officially graduated. To be eligible to participate or “walk”, you must have completed your degree or certificate in 2019 Summer, 2019 Fall or are expected to complete in 2020 Spring or 2020 Summer. The Commencement webpage link is activated every Spring and is located on the Madera Community College Center homepage banner. Reservations for the Commencement Ceremony and instructions on attendance will be posted on the Commencement 101 page.

Two Step Process:

  1. Apply for graduation (apply for your degree/certificate).
  2. RSVP to “walk” in the 2020 Madera Community College Center Commencement Ceremony.
