The Learning Center will only offer tutoring online for the fall 2020 semester. If you are a student who is interested in learning more about when tutors are available for your class, please self-enroll for the Madera/Oakhurst Online Tutoring Canvas page. If you are a MCC instructor who is interested in having a ETC tutor for your course, please contact coordinator Samuel Contreras at the email address above.
The Learning Center (LC) is the home of MCCC’s Extending the Classroom (ETC) initiative, where tutors are embedded in select courses -- ranging from accounting to philosophy, history to psychology -- and host drop-in and dedicated study sessions in room R1B, bridging the classroom experience and the time outside of class necessary for academic success.
Tutors at the Learning Center spend time during the semester in the classroom with students in various courses, but students can seek out regularly scheduled ETC sessions at the LC. It is free and available whenever you need it: Maybe you need some extra help studying for a big test or you didn’t fully understand a particular concept from the last class. Whatever your concern, the LC can help.
Each tutor’s schedule is posted on the wall near the entrance to R1A, so you’re more than welcome to stop by and see for yourself. You can also stop by our Front Desk at the Reading and Writing Center in R1A for more information.
For MCCC instructors: If you are interested in learning more about having an ETC tutor for your students, please contact 559-675-4846.
