Online Tutoring Process

All tutoring in the Fall 2020 semester will take place online. To access online tutoring and resources from the Academic Success Centers, students must self-enroll in the “Madera/Oakhurst Online Tutoring” course in Canvas:

  1. Self-Enroll. You may also receive an invitation to your SCCCD district e-mail (@my.scccd.edu) and/or it may be sent to you directly by an instructor.
  2. Join the course by clicking (+ Enroll).
  3. On Canvas, you should see a new course titled “Madera/Oakhurst Online Tutoring” on your Dashboard. It should also be listed when you select Courses.
  4. Go to the menu item labeled Home.

You have three (3) choices for online tutoring:

  1. ETC and STEM Tutoring – students can schedule appointments to cover course-related content from a number of MCC courses
  2. Reading and Writing Center Tutoring – students can submit a request to receive asynchronous written feedback and/or schedule a synchronous one-on-one session, to focus on writing assignments for any class at MCC
  3. SmartThinking Tutoring – students can access an outside service that provides support for various classes
