Welcome to the website of the Madera Community College Center, home of the Mountain Lions! Located in the heart of California, the Madera Community College Center (MCCC) is soon to become the fourth and newest college in the State Center Community College District. We offer an affordable, quality education for residents of Madera County and nearby communities.
MCCC is located at the edge of the city of Madera on Avenue 12 east of Highway 99. Under the leadership of Reedley College, the center opened in 1996 on a 114-acre site donated by local landowners.
The center is focused on student success, with comprehensive, innovative programs in transfer/general education, occupational education, and developmental education that motivates
and empowers students to be successful. Distance learning courses are also a priority, providing on-line courses and linking our campus with other district sites. The campus currently serves approximately five-thousand credit and non-credit students each semester who enroll in courses for transfer preparation, career education, and foundational skills.
Dedicated to educational attainment and economic well-being of the surrounding community it serves, MCCC partners with local educational institutions, such as our feeder school districts, Fresno Pacific University and California State University, Fresno, to create smooth pathways from secondary through post-secondary education.
We will be the first community college in the state established as a fully operational guided pathways college, helping students navigate their way to success. Guided Pathways is a transformational framework that focuses on reviewing and revising college policies, procedures and practices with the goal of designing with the student in mind. Guided Pathways presents courses in the context of highly structured, educationally coherent program maps that align with students’ goals for careers and further education. The project is designed to significantly increase the number of students who earn a certificate or degree at a California Community College.
We are extremely fortunate to be part of such a rich agricultural tradition which coexists with a growing industrial base. Madera County is also the southern entrance to one of the world’s most breathtaking locations, Yosemite National Park, the “other” home of many mountain lions that roam the park’s mountains and valleys.
Our campus is growing by leaps and bounds! We broke ground on our new Center for Agriculture and Technology on October 2, 2018. In addition, the design phase for our Academic Village II expansion is underway, with construction projected to begin in late 2019. The expected completion date for the Center for Agriculture and Technology is in the fall of 2019, and the Academic Village II expansion completion is scheduled for the summer of 2021.
Thank you for considering us. If you’re already part of our family, I hope you’re enjoying your experience! Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you. That’s why we’re here.
